A Rake is not just for raking...I found this idea in the Flea Market Style magazine, love this magazine (I wasn't paid in anyway to say this, soley my own opinion) , they have so many great inspiring ideas! I thought it was such a cute and cleaver idea! We don't have a lot of places available for hanging baskets, so I thought this idea would be a perfect solution for hanging baskets.

A rake isn't just for racking leaves, It also can be a garden stake to hold hanging baskets to see more on this go to www.onemoretimeevents.blogspot.com

This is a clever idea-as long as you won't need your rake! Tried your site-plugged into the search engine and still nothing-am I doing something wrong?

Cute idea if for if you've got a rake with a broken handle or something. Might even look more "sculptural" if you painted it!

we had 3 of these..but yes it would be a great way to repurpose one with a broken handle. I thought about painting it, but my husband liked the look of the natural wood.

It may still end up getting painted.

How to preserve the wood so it doesn't decay in the soil? Even Hickory has its limits.

To preserve wood, soak it in Thompsons Water Seal for a while and that will help seal out rot--or any good water sealant.

To answer some the questions... a piece of pvc Pipe was inserted in the soil and the rake is placed inside the pvc pipe. I am not sure how deep the rake is planted maybe 24" deep not sure I would have to measure the pot. Will do that and let you know for sure. Hope this answered all the questions, if not just let me know. Linda I will be careful not to run into it...hahahaha! Funny rake thatcher...! lol

I love it. I found some old, unusable tools in an abandoned shed and placed them around my gardens as "interest" points.

Did you treat the handle against rottening? If so what did you use?

Tammy H this is a great idea. I have seen it on two women and a hoe's facebook page but your pic is clearer. It has also got my mind churning. I am thinking this would be unique to attach to a fence or side of the house for hanging pots. Would just have to be sure that the tines are above anyone's eye level. Thanks for sharing :)

At first I was going to place it in the garden... I think it would look great anywhere. The main reason I put it in the pot is because I wanted some lighting on walk way
