Fixing Gaps Left by Old and New Trim

The Rozy Home
by The Rozy Home
As a DIYer I've made lots of mistakes. One of my first (and biggest) was installing all of the trim upstairs backwards. Yep. Backwards.
Oops... backwards trim.
When I finally decided to fix it I ran into a little problem.
Yep, the new trim was narrower than the old trim. Luckily, after having done trim work for years, I knew I could fix it by adding a piece of stop trim.
I just glued the stop trim on the side of the original trim...
.... let it dry and voila! No more gap.
The 1" x 1/4" stop trim fit the gap perfectly and once caulked and painted, you never even knew there was a problem. A quick and easy fix that cost less than $10!

All's well that ends well! Looks custom made. And at least you didn't have to pay for labour!
