DIY China Cabinet Chalk Paint Makeover

I'm so excited to share this china cabinet chalk paint makeover! We turned a dated French Country 'wannabe' into the real deal with chalk paint!
A few months ago my daughter scored this antiquated oak china cabinet on Craigslist. It's a large piece, and she really needed the storage and display... it just wasn't her style. We desperately wanted to find a way to update it!
I'd heard about chalk paint, but ever tried it, so we decided this was the perfect time! Since chalk paint can be applied without sanding or removing the original finish, as soon as we wiped the piece down, we were ready to paint!
After 2 coats and some drying time, it was time to distress! A little elbow grease to mimic wear and tear, and you have a finish that looks authentically vintage!
After painting and distressing, I applied the soft wax. This photo shows the contrast between the raw paint and the waxed finish.

Chalk paint is remarkably easy to work with. No sanding or stripping, just clean the piece and go right to painting!
