Removing label sticky from plastic bathtub.

Question

We installed a new plastic or fiberglass bathtub and have removed most of the sticky residue but there is still some left that we cannot get up. We've tried scrubbing bubbles, WD40, alcohol, baby oil and gently scraping. So far nothing works! Suggestions?

Goo Gone is great for removing things. Also there is a product called Awesome that I have found in Dollar General stores. It lives up to it's name. Very good cleaner full strength or diluted.

Contact the manufacturer. They should be able to tell you. Also find out exactly what your tub is: plastics, fiberglass, acrylic- different surfaces use different cleaners and it may be important so you don't kill the shine.

Also becareful of any spray or chemical as it may make the base slippery.

Heat the label with a blow dryer, use a razor blade scraper to lift the label and keep advancing with the blow dryer, if there is residual left, use goo gone

Hometalk had a suggestion just yesterday! I haven't tried it, but it sounds logical. Citrus air spray, soaking the paper, just peels off, according to the writer.

rubbing alcohol has worked miracles for me on other surfaces. I would give it a try. It got sap off my car windows. Hairspray off windows. Have not tried it on plastic. But, it is inexpensive and non abrasive. Just an idea. : )

Use baking soda and vegetable oil. I use it to get labels off of blue beer bottles. Works wonders and cheap too.

Toothpaste works just fine. Apply some, scrub it a bit and leave it on a while before washing off.

I use coconut oil to remove labels and all things sticky on hard surfaces. Non toxic and it will not harm the surface.

Thanks for your input everyone. The paper was already peeled off. We are just trying to get the last of the glue off. I have a lot of the suggested products on hand. WD 40 didn't cut it, but I have a brand new bottle of rubbing alcohol.

rub in a little peanut butter, wait 10 minutes and wipe it off with a paper towel. Works every time on all sticky labels

Make a paste with backing soda and oil and rub the paste all over the sticky. Leave while you wash the dishes. Go wipe it up and should be gone. You could use creamy peanut too! Good Luck!
