Try the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser sponges. I use them on everything and it is amazing the stuff they remove. I don't have shower doors but they work really well removing soap scum from the tile, tub and faucets. Rinse well.

Combine warm vinegar with Dawn detergent, in equal amounts, then add water to the mixture to create a consistency that will spray. Put it in a spray bottle and spray the walls, leave for 30", wash down. Works very well.

@Melissa I tried the vinegar and Dawn mixture after I read about it on here, Pinterest, or somewhere. Even though the recipe I followed had only a tablespoon or two of Dawn, I found it way too soapy and EXTREMELY hard to rinse away...and then, after all that work, it didn't even seem to clean off the scum that well. With 50/50 vinegar and Dawn, that seems like a lot of soap. Do you have trouble rinsing it off?

I use warm vinegar, hot water, small amount of Dawn and baking soda. It foams a little from the soda and vinegar but it works great. 2 cups vinegar, 1 cup hot water, about 3 or 4 drips of Dawn, and 1/4 cup soda. Mix put in spray bottle. Let sit for a few minutes and wipe down with hot water. This also works for oven cleaner and on fiberglass or tile.

Fabric Softener Melissa, run to the laundry room and grab yourself a dryer sheet, no kidding. I'll let you know right off - You have to moisten the fabric softener first. This won't work by rubbing a dry sheet against the door. Amazingly, those hard water stains immediately begin to swirl away when cleaning the glass. A quick wipe with a paper towel and you'll be looking through the clean door again.

@Luis I did this, after I got the build-up off the doors. I do like the way the dryer sheets clean the baseboards, mirrors, etc. but, they didn't get the soap build up off. I'd read the vinegar+Dawn mix, didn't really believe it, but, it DID work!

After getting them clean all you have to do is dry them off each time. Dove Body Wash is the very worst for building up soap scum. Depending in how bad it is I use regular bathroom cleaner with a magic eraser. You can use vinegar, but for the really really really bad rentals I have cleaned...I use The Works. It is a toilet bowl cleaner with muratic acid. And I make sure to open a window, wear a mask and work in small sections. And rinse, rinse. This will white spot and ruin the steel on anything including facets. I use a sponge to put it on and let it work. This also takes off hard water build up. I have also used full strength muratic acid. It is not natural. Before anyone rushs to judgment. I clean for a living. I have cleaned the worst rentals to the best houses to high income businesses. These are cleaning methods are sometimes last resorts. When you can either try this or replace it or anything you do won't damage it because it's already so bad whatever you do won't hurt it.

Loctite is what they use to fix chips on car windshields, they also use it for repair in glass showers. I know you can purchase it or have someone come in and fix it for you. And thank you. Cleaning paid for my house, my daughters education. I honestly take pride in cleaning. I am a bit OCD. When you clean rentals we clean them differently than homes. House cleaners should always pull up cleaning guidelines for your surfaces. I do this for every customer, and keep a file, I also hand the customer their guidelines. I always keep all the supplies for every customer we clean for we don't substitute other supplies. You can also pull up manufactory guidelines my googling cleaning guidelines for the brand and appliance or calling your manufacture directly.

One more thing. To keep it clean I run the shower for two minutes very very hot water. Then I spray down the shower with cleaner. For at least 4 minutes. You need to warm up the walls and allow the cleaner to work. Then after I have scrubbed it I rinse really really well. Left over cleaner and not rinsing well will allow direst to grab and build up again. And drying the shower each time you use it keeps soap and hard water build up form happening.

have you tried 1 cup warm vinegar, add 1 cup dawn - blue detergent, shake, spray and rinse away
  • I've had good luck using just vinegar mixed with water. I also keep a squeegee in my shower. After showering, I use it on the doors. Rarely does soap scum build up. So, once you get your shower doors nice and clean, try that. It really does help. Good luck!

I use a mixture of Blue dawn dish soap (5-6 oz) in a 32 oz empty water bottle, fill with vinegar. In the cap, either make slits with a knife or poke holes and give the bottle a mix. Spritz all over your shower/tub, then brush with a dollar store broom tto spread it around. Let set for about 30 min rinse well. Keep this broom dedicated for this purpose so your shower does not get scratched. Repeat as needed.

To prevent after you have cleaned it, wipe or squeegie til dry. Then coat with automotive wax, some people use Rainex with success.
