Mmmm..., my first thought was to choose the smaller of the 2 simply because it seems homegrown, but after studying the 2, I've decided the one on the left. Thinking its size may be from healthier soil and attention we can give our gardens that can't happen when mass produced. -
You're right! I can't believe how small in comparison the store bought ones are, and that was one of the larger ones in the container! I have gotten a half dozen off in the last couple of days with tons more to come. My roma that I started fom seed are nearly as big as my Early Girls.....I can't wait to start canning! -
that's wonderful..good year for tomatoes? Do you can, make sauce or juice with them? -
I make lots of sauce and salsa, which I grow everything for both. My jalapena peppers seem to be doing well, bell peppers are getting good now too. I am also growing onions this year, have an entire bed dedicated to them and so far so good. Tried it last year but my doggies got in there too much and ruined the tops. I have it fenced off this year so they can't get in there, I would say they are about half grown right now. Getting my canning supplies up from the basement early this year! -
That's wonderful. We didn't plant much this year and I will miss the spaghetti sauce, salsa and stewed tomatoes. Maybe the farmers market will have the romas for a good price-we'll see. -
We used to grow cherry tomatoes ... aren't they so much better fresh from the garden? Yours look great!! -
Thank you! :) -
EVERY single time I've plucked a grape tomato off of a plant and ate it, I've always been impressed by how much flavor it has versus anything I've ever bought in the store. Nothing beats a grape tomato straight off the vine!
