Yeah, I know we're right in the midst of a July heatwave, but . . . having cooling thoughts of Christmas and thought this might be the time to buy one. Is anyone out there thrilled with theirs? Don't want to spend a fortune . . .

We have always been "real tree" people. Last year I cut one down from my own yard...but in years past have gotten a permit from the forest service for their programs. I have only seen a couple fake trees that even looked remotely decent...unfortunately I did not pay more attention as one of these would never make it into my home...I know a lot of people feel that artificial make sense from a re-use and care stand point but we love the smell of a real tree.
  • You are too funny! And wherever will you find one in July? I'm a real tree person too and still have years of needles worth to prove it. So my answer is of no help whatsoever!

I have always had small areas for a tree, so many years ago I bought three of the very narrow trees with "real" trunks and use them in a cluster. They range from approx 6 feet to 4 feet tall. The really look great together, or some years I separate them and put them in different rooms. If you have a large area this would be a big disappointment! However if you need a large tree you will probably need to buck up and spend the bucks.

We got one off season online, very happy with it. Better quality, any many more lights as compared to the ones you find in the big box stores at Christmas. The website I got it from is not there anymore, but may be worth searching one out.

I bought one from Target about 5 years ago after the Christmas season - 9 foot with beautiful white lights. Loved it, but when I moved I couldn't use it any longer as the ceilings were only 9 foot. Best looking tree I ever had and I'm one that loves to go all out and really make the tree look like a masterpiece every year!! Had lots of branches and it looked real.

I saw a guy buying one of these official charlie brown trees at Home depot last year..not sure if you can get them out of season...or if they will be available every years. It was a basic Chinese import but cute in retro kind of way.

I bought a narrow one from HOME DEPOT about 6 yrs ago..I love it, BUT you still have the wire mess plugging each section in,,,, I have checked out the ones on QVC,, they are more spendy,, but they plug in at the trunk,, bottom section, add middle-it lights-then top and you are done.. the newer LED lights and chips have so many variations not jut colored or white.. they are always on sale ini the summer- PLUS you can pay for it over a few months... they may have a few left,
