Creating a Chippy, Layered Finish

I love the chippy look but I also like to control where my paint chips! This gorgeous chest has a few imperfections but I wanted to highlight them. Instead of filling the dents and repairing the veneer damage, I created even more texture around the "perfect imperfections"!
I used Daddy Van's Wax to prevent my first layer of paint from adhering to the rich, dark, wood.
Elmer's Glue was my magic potion for the cracking.
I highlighted the chipped veneer with a light grit sandpaper.
Layers of Benjamin Moore's Amulet and Mascarpone brought the body to life.
Lovely cracks :)
I'm in love with the story this piece tells!
