French doors

What is the latest trend for covering the windows on French doors. Right now I have thick eyelet white curtains on them because the doors lead into the fl. room. I want something on the doors so you can not see in the fl. room.

There are allot of factors. One being your decorating style. Can you share photos of the room the door are in. I have four sets of french doors in our home. Two sets are in the Gentleman's Parlor have touch roller shades that roll into what looks like a rounded metal valance. I also have curtain panels that close over them when we need it dark for TV viewing. The next set are in the sunroom have roman shades. The other set is in the basement in the wood work shop so they have inexpensive roller shades until I find something that can handle all saw dust.

The whole attitude of French doors is not to cover them....they look best without a stitch of coverings on them. I would think if you have to cover them....to put something on that you can roll up or take off during the day. If you are covering up a room that you don't particulary like.,...I guess some window coverings would work. They have magnetic curtain rods if the material is metal that you are hanging them on...if not its perfect to nail in some curtain rods and hang some narrow (I would think lacy or wispy curtains would be the best) curtains on them. I would fix up the room that you don't like so well, so that you can have the French doors closed and not covered...so nice.

what about the new pella shades that attach to a door and raise and lower between the glass.

@Baarbara Jones Hmm.. I will look into pella shades. Thank you!
  • Have you considered wall decals? They can be easily removed and won't damage the surface.

I used a company called French Door curtain company for my entry double doors. This company specializes in french door curtains. I would order a few different samples making sure you like the thickness, texture and final product of the curtain before ordering. I do agree with other posters, keeping them curtain free is the best but I understand the privacy.
