The Garden Frog with C Renee on Aug 26, 2014The problem with buying them from a store after sitting on the sales shelves is that the moisture and fluctuation in temps usually destroys the bulbs, rhizomes, and tubers. Are these tubers hard still? If there is any softness, then they most likely are not viable. Storing them in paper bags in a cool, dry place is the best (like an insulated garage) where they will not freeze. Personally I do not buy any roots, tubers, or rhizomes, and bulbs from the store if they have been there more than a couple months. There usually is no guarantee for them either so for me the risk is not worth it. good luck! happy gardening.Helpful Reply

Douglas Hunt on Aug 27, 2014Plants are amazingly resilient so there is always a chance you may have success. If the price is right, why not take a chance? Follow Sandy's and The Garden Frog's advice for storage.Helpful Reply
