Is it advisable to put a polyacrylic over a decal on painted wood?

I am painting a dresser using chalk paint. I have found a "quote decal" that I would like to put on the front of a drawer. Is it possible to put polyacrylic over the decal?

I use mod podge... I make sure it is the matte finish.

We build corn toss games and I have used Minwax® Polycrylic® Protective Finish over many decals with no problems. We have also used automotive clear coat for a slick finish. The Minwax Polycrylic comes in gloss, and satin finish we always use satin finish. Just make sure you get all the air bubbles out of the decal before you put the finish over it. Once you apply the finish the bubbles will still be there and will give when you press on them possible cracking the finish and the decal once the finish has hardened.

I have used polyacrylic and mod podge. However, the poly acrylic is more durable and less likely to become sticky in humid environments.
