A Front Door Facelift Including Painting the Door Hardware

For The Love Creations
by For The Love Creations
After tearing down the pergola at the entrance of my home the front door was left exposed to the harsh elements for about two years. A new pergola went up and it was time for a front door makeover.
BEFORE: Front Door Challenge!
It was a gorgeous deep navy, but up close it was chipped, peeled...and frankly we just needed a bright and exciting colour change with the long-awaited arrival of Spring.

Not wanting to have to sand, prime or prep, I chose Autentico Vintage Chalk Paint in Bright Turquoise.
Autentico Vintage Chalk Paint
The first coat went straight onto the old finish and "primed" the surface.
No priming, no prep necessary
The second coat did the hard work and produced a lovely opaque finish. I'd missed a few spots, so once the second coat dried, I gave it a very quick once over.
First coat acts as a primer...
While it was drying I took a better look at the hardware, I'd intended to replace it, but the closest I found was about $200...
BEFORE: chipped & peeling doorknob
Instead I painted it with Autentico Vintage Chalk Paint in Nearly Black...and I'm thrilled with the result!! Saved myself a ton of money too!
Before and After
Thrilled with the end result. The colour is a stretch for me and honestly, I'm not sure it will stay for the long-term, but it's been a successful project with a happy result to welcome Spring!
