colder). It is reported to be a butterfly magnet and it grows 4-7' tall. In my garden I don't stake it. I love it! The botanical name is subject to confusion but just look for Rudbeckia 'Herbstonne'
Here it is in my July garden with lilies, the yellow cones and green center- wow!

JUST BEWARE OF ANYTHING IN THE SUNFLOWER FAMILY. THEY RE ALLEOTROPIC LIKE WALNUTS AND THEIR ROOTS PUT OUT A SUBSTANCE THAT KILLS ANYTHIG THAT MIGHT COMPETE WITH THEM. I LEARNED THIS AFTER THEY DID IN A RARE WHITE CHICORY. IT CAME UP AND 2 DAYS LATER IT WAS DEAD.

I just found this guy in my native rain garden. I get free/cheap plants from other gardeners, so occasionally I get surprises. This guy ended up at the front of the borer. It is about 3 ft tall this year, but I guess I should move it this fall.
