Demilune makeover with chalk paint

Betty Van Sant
by Betty Van Sant
This was brown stained before I painted it Paris Gray. And there is detailing on it in a muted gold. I want to keep the gold. So I'm now at a standstill. I am not sure what to do next. Clear or dark wax. Distress of no distress? I'm open to your comments. Thanks!

My opinion: I love it exactly as is! I think you did a wonderful job!

Oh thanks. But if you saw it up close you wouldn't say that. Hehe. Because it looks messy where the gold swags are cuz I got paint on them. And I can't get if off. So idk what to do. Just go forward with the wax step? Maybe it will look better after I do that. Thanks so much. I appreciate your comments!!

You could distress it where the gold details are! Should get the paint off and make it a little distressed in a good way :) Other than that I like it just the way it is! Cool piece!

I would clear wax and only dark wax where u want to enhance shadowing. Gilding (gold)!or Rub n Buff would b nice as well! Lovely piece!

I'm going with Marion on that idea - only dark wax where you want to enhance the shadowing. I love the AS dark wax, but oh does it make me have a headache so I wear a mask for that FYI. It's a great piece of art!

Thanks Lynn!! I did a little more distressing on it. Let me see if I still have the final photo. Nope. Will have to take another.

@Betty Van Sant It looks beautiful as is, but a little more distressing never hurts. <smile>. You have some serious talent.

You're very kind!! Thank you!! It's fun. And each piece is different isn't it? Turns out different which is the fun in it!! Can't really make a mistake with chalk paint. That's why I love it!!
