DIY - How to Antique Furniture - Super Easy Ways

You can easily create your own gorgeous looking antique furniture using anything from latex paint, chalk paint, milk paint, stains, waxes and even shoe polish. There are different techniques depending on whether you want to age or distress your piece. You can also use new furniture and add some features if they don't have any.
This armoire uses Annie Sloans chalk paint and a technique mixing clear and dark wax with some chalk paint. More on the blog.. here - http://decoratedlife.com/1950s-french-dresser-1800s-france/
Its best to use furniture with a little age and some features.
Yes.. shoe polish can get into all the right places.. and is perfect for antiquing furniture. Black goes gray and browns are warm and muddy.
Paint your hardware too - this is in Annie Sloan's Graphite.
After painting and distressing use a glaze for an aged effect. The recipe is on the blog.
This is from Centsational Girl using latex paint, distressed and adding new hardware and gluing on embellishments.
No distressing for this piece. The features are highlighted with gold paint.
Find the tutorial for this brand new Ikea piece. The full tutorial is on the blog.. Cute stencil in the middle.

These are wonderful tips. You have done a great job on all of these! I have several 70s big pieces I would LOVE to paint, but am too limited to do so...age and eyesight has caught up with me! HA! I am not sure I would have the energy to empty everything out and have someone do it for me! I don't do messes well these days!
