Choosing cherry cabinets

I'm remodeling the kitchen and love cherry cabinets, but I'm afraid of seeing a great discrepancy in the wood with lighter streaks in it. Should I be worried? The stain and glaze over the cabinets may take care of it...but still I don't want it to look clownish.

I completely understand your concern, as I wouldn't have wanted that either. We wound up going with maple cabinets to play it safe and I'm so happy with them. I'd make sure to have a talk with whoever you buy them with whether or not the manufacturer you choose uses select wood to avoid the lighter streaks. Some may find that beautiful. I being one of them, but not in on built in cabinets.

Get a a piece of scrap lumber that your cabinets are made out of and try on it first. Best and easiest way to find out, that way you don't ruin your cabinets. Usually Lowe's or Home Depot have small cuts of lumber real reasonable.
