Living Room!

Well, I am really proud of myself, because I helped my mom so much to have an amazing living room and very affordable! (We like to save money! :D ) I am the one that did a lot of work and picking things out. So, I wish I had a before picture. The wall was sky blue with train boarder. (EW!) So, then, I painted Almond Butter! I thought, the floor is dark, and the wall is lighter, so why not paint more natural. Turn out great! So, there wasn't any blinds, so, I told my mom that we should go to Lowe's and we found this an amazing wood blind for only 10 buck and the regular price is 33 dollars! AMAZING! Then, we needed curtains, so I went to goodwill, and found 4 set of curtains for only 2 dollars! WHOO HOO! Then, I told my mom that we should go to used furniture store, so we went there, and found this brand new couch that wasn't opened, there were 200 dollar each, CHEAP!! Then, my mom went to a store and bought the light for 10 dollars on sale! Also, the pillows came with the couch! Then, there were used to be a weird white blinds on the door, so I took it down and sew curtain myself. Turned out great! I AM SO PROUD OF MYSELF!! I would be a very successful and affordable interior designer one day!! :)

You're welcome Tyler. Have you thought of adding some "art" over the sofa?

You wouldn't have to, but it's always nice to have some decoration on the walls. Whether it be something you find at a thrift store (you can always paint over an ugly print you find) you made from found materials, photos you've taken or family photos.

That's an awesome idea Tyler. I've enjoyed photography since I was a young child. My folks had a camera for us kids to use. They were avid photographers. Mom had a 35mm and Dad the movie camera. Since I showed signs of loving the hobby more than my siblings they bought me my first camera when I was ten.

I hope you share your work when you get to it.

Nice work! I love "thrift stores" I like to find old sheets and make curtains out of them or cut them up for quilts. Also it is a great place to find cheap frames for photo's...Good luck with your decorating!

Fantastic job with both the remodel and the savings on it. i think you should just take your camera and go "shooting" one day - surises/day/sunsets/the moon and all interesting things in between. Then you could do an assortment of people and objects.

Becky --- Really? That is a lot of photographer in your family! I am the first and the only photographer. I am proud of it! hahah I have Canon Rebel.. SLR!! I LOVE MY CAMERA! I got it for graduation gift!

Sharron -- THANK YOU!! :) Yes! I know Thrift store is an amazing! Who needs fancy new stuff? You can change it the way you want! ...»

Terri - My mom and I do that all the time.. but we just couldn't afford really nice frames. So I am planning to go to Goodwill and buy cheap frames and paint it.. then hang it up.. I want like whole set of matching frames with different sizes.

Tyler, you are so lucky to have a DSLR camera. I've not allowed myself to spend the money on one yet. I do have a 35mm, but I'm so used to instant gratification you get with digital that I've not used it in some time though.

As for frames, check Walmart. They have some wooden ones (usually found on a four way rack in a main aisle) quite reasonable if you don't need them too large. Our store carries 4x6 to 11x14, with the largest only five dollars.

Well, my brother bought that camera off of the ebay!

Yep, really. I've gotten my wooden frames there for ages and the price is barely more than it was when my kids were little. They're both almost thirty now.

When I'm ready to buy a DSLR I should have my hubby check ebay for me. I've never shopped there. The bidding would drive me up a wall.

I watched a set of MCM lamps once thinking I'd bid at the last minute as friends have suggested and I was a nervous wreck. Finally decided I didn't need the lamps that much and quit watching. You're lucky to be able to handle the stress.
