Vintage door turned into hall tree for the entrance.

Found this door in an abandoned house in the woods that was to be torn down. There was a fugitive loose in the area where the house was located and helicopters and law enforcement officers were swarming all around, also wasps were swarming in the house but nothing would stop me from getting this neat door!

Wanted to highlight the three glass arched windows so decided to stencil birds on pieces of wood and we nailed the pieces behind the windows.

Wow. It sounds like quite an adventure to get that door. Do you have any photos of the original door?

To Steve G., yes I do have a pic of the door in the "before stage". It's filed away and can't find it! It basically was peeling white lead paint and very dirty.

UH - WOW!!! I guess it never ocurred to you that if there was a loose fugative running amuck and you're in an abandoned house scarfing old doors, you could have been a prime target for kidnapping? LOL - well, glad you were so successful and the door is totally awesome!!!

To Susan - We will do wild and crazy things for just the right vintage piece! What I left out of the story is there were two large "bubbas" in the house who were selling the architectural items before they demolished it. I really was more concerned about going into a secluded house with them than the fugitive. I did call my husband before and told him where I was and if he didn't hear from me in 10 mins., call the police. I hung up while he was trying to talk me out of it. Thanks for your cute response and nice compliment.

To Susan - I had a bird stencil and stenciled them onto three pieces of wood and nailed each piece behind the arched windows. Thanks for your very kind words.

Oh you are a trip!!! BUT I do understand the obsession to get IT while you can!!! I keep passing this pile of wood from a torn down shack and everytime I look over at it I just keep thinking one of these days I'm gonna stop and check that out! Reclaimed Wood - gosh, I just know there are treasures in there!! LOL

What a smart idea - stencil & nail!! I gotta start hangin around with you more!!!

This door has so-o-o-o-o much character, I don't blame you for taking risks! I love the finish you've applied. @Susan, if the fugitive came after her, she probably would have just mowed him down with the door with great determination!

Well Welcome Donna - and I must, in all fairness, warn you that there are a couple of people (who shall remain unnamed in order to protect the not-so-innocent) that could be considered slightly on the C-R-A-Z-Y side!! But, it sounds like you'll fit right in!!

Thank you, Susan. It's so nice to have a place where you can see what others are doing, ask questions, get feedback, not to mention nice compliments. Yes, I usually find my way into the crazy group where I feel at home! I need to put in a profile pic but I just recently lost 15 lbs. and I want a picture that shows it!

No Susan, I call it the Milk Dud diet. I am trying to eat healthier but simply have quit snacking at night before going to bed. I quit baking cookies too. If I get a sweet tooth during the day, I pop 5-6 Milk Duds (kept in the fridge) and that satisfies it and also curbs my appetite. No exercise except opening fridge door! Seriously, I only reach for Milk Duds about 3x a day.

Thanks for all the nice comments. This was my first thing to post and it's been fun watching the "view" numbers and the "likes", etc. It's exciting! Hometalk and all the creativeness that we get to see is a great way to stay motivated to do more projects. Also, in just five days, I've learned a lot!
