Tackling an intimidating empty wall... Decorating tips!

I had gotten rid of a GIANT 5 piece entertainment center that was occupying a 17 foot wall that ran down the middle of our 'great room'. Once it was gone I was left with a lot of empty blankness. I did a little 'at home' shopping and reused pieces from around the house to make this area feel more like a living space and less like a forgotten hallway. I love how inviting it is now! I loved this bench and almost sold it because I didn't have any room for it... until now!

This was a dresser rehab that I turned into a beautiful sideboard.

Great use of space and so much more interesting that an entertainment center. LOVE the while console (was that a thrift store transformation?) and the mismatched mirrors. You're right - it's all about the details.

It can be difficult to fill up a large space and get it just right, but you have managed to do it perfectly! It looks wonderful!

A 17' empty wall? A Woodworkers dream. While I love the design you've adopted, the first thing that came to my mind when I say the "before" picture was floor-to-ceiling book shelves complete with sliding library ladder.

This is beautiful but I especially love the wall color, it makes the colors of everything else just "pop"! What is that wall color?

Thanks everyone!! Judy C, the color is Behr - Harvest Brown. I've gotten lots of compliments on that color so it must have been a good choice :) Thanks again!

Tony that is an incredible idea, and one I would LOVE to do if this was our 'forever' home. I've got the number for a woodworker but haven't given him a call yet. Sliding library ladder...? Yes, please!
