  • Take it outside tomorrow in the sunshine and wash it with murphy's oil soap and warm water or even just use any warm soapy water to clean it up. the sun is a great deodorizer and mold killer. there are products you can buy too to eliminate the mold on wood so I would check out your local home improvement store for their best products. but first just try to clean it up and let it sunbathe for the day! good luck

We had a flood in our area in 2010, and everyone was turning up at the disaster relief center to figure out what to do. Even though we are up on a hill, everything in our basement that was touching the floor had to go to the dump, because of the mold that grew from the water that had come through the basement walls. We were advised to use Mold Control - its a product available at Home Depot. I've since had a bottle in the house and use it for anything I even question mold will grow on.

I found this on the web for you......Begin by diluting your chlorine bleach properly. 2 teaspoons per half gallon of warm water is the ideal solution strength for removing mold from wood cutting boards. Using a kitchen scrubbing brush, gently scrub your cutting board in the bleach solution until the mold has all been taken care of.

Be sure to wear face and eye protection while doing this!
