want to cut out 4x6ft section of carpeting and replace with a non skid tile

This section is by double doors leading to the rec room from swimming pool. Carpet gets wet and dirty.Any tips will be greatly appreciated.

    Is this carpet over concrete?...tile over concrete is the best but re-working the edging and tack strips is a bit of a pain.

    If you are DIY savvy you could easily do the tile part and then have a carpet installer come in to trim and secure the carpet edges.
