Old Nightstand brought back to life

I bought this at Goodwill for 9.50 and painted it with homemade chalk paint. Then I distressed it and sealed it with ASCP clear wax and then dark wax. I painted the handles with Oiled Bronze spray paint. Now it is beautiful.

I love the look, but am having dusting flashbacks. My dad owned a furniture store and when this style, and even more ornate mediterranean styles became popular, my sisters and I avoided the store as much as possible. Ugh...dusting for hours!! ;-)

I love the way this turned out! I would never have looked at that night stand twice in it's before state. Good eye!! In it's after state, it is amazing!

How many parts paint and plaster of paris? Is the plaster of paris mixed with the paint dry?

I have been using sandless grout. Do you feel plaster of paris works better?

love it! I make my own chalk paint using plaster of paris too. It's what I started with, so I haven't bought the sandless grout. From what I've read, they both work equally well. Carol, I don't measure, just eyeball. I usually pour 2 or 3 cups of paint into a plastic bowl and add my p of p, probably about 3/4 cup and mix. Then I add water, a couple of tablespoons at a time, stirring well, until I have it the consistency that I want.

Amazing what a little paint can do, that turned out gorgeous! My DIY chalk paint is also plaster of paris, it's wild how easy it is to mix and work with!
