We found this dresser in a local thrift store and decided to give it a makeover. During the process we found out it had lead paint and learned the best way to remove it. We also installed drawer slides on the dresser drawers to make it more user-friendly.
Before and after of the HomeRight dresser makeover.
This is the dresser as we found it in a local thrift store. At first we thought there were stickers on the fronts of the drawers. After a closer look they turned out to be stenciled.
This is the dresser after we painted it and added new hardware.
During the paint removal process we learned that the dresser was cover in lead paint. After doing some research we determined that using a heat gun was the safest way to remove the lead paint.
Spraying the dresser with primer using the HomeRight Finish Max HVLP Sprayer.
We installed drawer slides to make them easier to slide in and out. Read more about this project on our blog: http://www.homeright.com/blog/dresser-makeover-part-4-how-to-install-drawer-slides
