Shovels- My Must Have Garden Tools

For any beginner gardener I recommend the first purchase to be a good quality round tipped garden shovel. I have 3 round tipped shovels and 5 or so other various type shovels which all have different jobs but your basic garden shovel is what any gardener needs first and foremost in the garden.
However, I am here to break the illusion that garden tools need special care. You will read some say to clean them after every use, oil them, spray them, shine them or put them in a bucket of sand so they do not rust. HAHA- I say because my tools have never been oiled, bathed, dunked in sand or given the royal treatment. They are used and sometime left out in the rain.
I know, left out in the rain. From the pics you can tell that they have not suffered any real permanent damage either. To be honest, when I am done for the day and I am drenched in sweat, covered in dirt, and my family needs dinner the last thing I am going to do is wash my tools. I pick them up (90% of the time) and put them away with or without dirt on them.
That is how I do it.
