Fall Garden in South Carolina

This is my second attempt at a large Fall garden here in SC. We have a lot of failures, but sometimes we luck out. September was extremely wet this year so we missed the Clemson suggestion dates for planting. But at last we have Cabbage, Bok Choy, Radishes, Beets, Rutabagas, Spinach, Lettuce, Swiss Chard, Onions and Garlic all in place. What I have learned so far in my experience is not to give up. I also try to plant cool weather crops again in Jan/Feb. March and April are for the warm crops and May and June hot weather crops.
We planted pumpkins on July the Fourth. We ended up with ine pumpkin and it frosted before it fully ripened. Next year I am planting in June. Who knows it might work out better.
Radishes are quick and easy. I love the eat them plain and in salads and my chickens love the radish tops.
Here Buffy is having a bit of radish top as a snack.
This picture shows part of our garden. The strawberry beds mulched for winter in the front followed by all the greens which seem much happier now we have cooled off a bit.I make my own compost also with the chicken mulch and lots of leaves and kitchen scraps that are not saved for the chickens to eat.
