Cool plant of the day for shade.
While I don't recommend planting bamboo in the ground (invasive) try this one in big pot for a striking accent in the woodland. Sasa vetchii, Zone 6 to 9, only grows 3 to 6' tall. Looks great with hydrangeas

Beautiful plant. Makes my change my mind a little bit about bamboo.

Steve, I have to say this bamboo and a few others have won me over but I stress that people should never just plant bamboo as a screen in their gardens because it will soon be all over the neighborhood!
