side table update

I wanted the harlequin look on this piece, but didn't want to measure, tape, and paint the design, so I used scrapbook paper to achieve the look I wanted.

had paper left over, so I lined the drawers

I've since painted the original round wooden pulls black and replaced the fleur de lis pulls with them.

Your scrapbook paper went on top of a really nice paint job too. I love the handles you found to put on this piece.

Pam this turned out really chic & sophisticated!! I think using the scrapbook paper was pretty darned ingenious - I cannot imagine taping all those little diamonds off and painting each one individually - NOT I very much like the fleur-de-Lis knobs - they're the unexpected element - put 'em back on!! ; ~)

As to the wishing well picture that isn't yours - I remember seeing that in a post back ...»

awhile. If you go into your profile area you should be able to edit and delete anything you don't want. If all else fails, contact Miriam and she'll help you.

Great job! On scrapbook paper it only comes in certain sizes did you just line up the next sheet then cut?

Yes Joan, I tried to match much like with wall paper or fabric and kept my seams to the back of the piece.

Susan, I like the fleur de lis knobs too....my husband was the one who preferred the round ones. they look good too. options I guess?? lol

If I had painted the diamonds, I never would have done them that small and I really wanted ...»

much bigger diamonds, but couldn't find any paper with larger ones and as I said, didn't want to paint them on. As for the random picture, I tried to find a way to delete it in the edit mode, but couldn't do it. Who's Miriam? thanks!

ok, now I'm getting it Miriam, you're a moderator, right? I'm very new here and just navigating around. When I try to edit the picture that's not mine, it doesn't show up.....very strange. lol

Hi Pam, I'd love to help, but I'm not sure I understand the problem. Can you elaborate? You can email me directly if that's easier: miriam@hometalk.com

Wow this is a WONDERFUL Piece! Brillient using that beautiful paper...did you seal on top of the paper with varnish or what? Also what type of glue did you use to put the paper on?

To adhere the paper to the piece, I sprayed the paper with Elmer's spray glue. Once I got all the paper on, I used several coats of Minwax spray poly, concentrating around the edges. If you like Modpodge, I'm sure that could be used too.
