Help! I need super cheap new flooring ideas!

Have very old and disgusting carpet, cannot afford an installer, need ideas please!

You never mentioned the subfloor but if you are handy (from cheapest & essentially easiest) there is vinyl tile, sheet flooring, laminate wood floors, ceramic tiles.

Paper bag floor, certainly the cheapest by far if the subfloor is in good shape. There is lots of info on it on pinterest I did it in a room that was 12X12 and it cost less then $50 dollars, and it is a nice looking floor!

What you do depends on how handy (and brave) you are, your patience, and what kind of help you have. It is hard to make recommendations without more info...what is sub-flooring, do you have kids and pets, etc. The secret is to start out with a small project and work your way into doing an entire house! Glue down tile is good for beginners, but getting it up later, is a BIG job. Painting the floor around the edges and putting in large rugs is one solution. If you have wood boards, whitewash them (you can get instructions on line). There are temporary fixes and then there are more permanent ones. And there is the step of sealing floors that are painted such as with a varnish so it won't rub off. Good luck...post more info and a projected budget.

Whatever the subfloor is, it can be painted. We did this in our living room Our sub floor was plywood, and my husband scored it so it looked like it was separate boards. We than painted it with porch paint and put several coats of polyurethane on. We painted it red and got lots of compliments. We also added an inexpensive area rug

Depending on your budget....I learned how to install vinyl flooring by watching u-tube tutorals. As a matter of fact, I learned how to many home remodel projects by watching u-tube tutorals. We have installed laminate flooring, tile floors (glass tile, ceramic and with special little borders). Tile can be purchase from very little to high end. Press on/peel & stick tiles don't always stay....especially if there is any moisture. We have learned a ton of things by watching FREE installation videos...plus many Home Depot/Lowes stores have free classes. Good luck!

We put the vinyl plank on the floor in our last home - looked great! And in our current home we took out the carpet and painted the sub-floor white until we can afford what we want! Looks good too!
