I need your advice and help with this canvas wall art, please.

I bought these at Goodwill, because, well, I don't really know why. I saw potential but I'm not sure what. I envisioned a fresco effect, or a stencil, or something. (Fresco? What was I thinking? I have no idea how to do that.) I just know it's not my style as it is. Any ideas or thoughts? Thanks!

Love the scroll on top! I would have bought them too. you could always decoupage them- or just paint a sold background and then stencil them. you can use grout material on the stencil to create a textured look. just look at them for a while- they will let you know what they want to be :)

I like them as well, I would consider aging them a bit, for some charm but something about them called to you.. look at them a while and it will happen.

Keep in mind that you do not have to use these as a grouping. Just look at them a while, then look around to see where they might fit. That longer one might work just above your table in the kitchen while the other 2 might be perfect hanging one below the other beside a beautiful mirror in the Dining room...or one on each side below a sconce with a candle. Or they might just brighten up an area down a short hallway to the back door or laundry room! You just never know. Or place them all separately and you have a theme going!

To get a sort of 'fresco' effect, you can take them off their wooden frames (trim up the edges as you like), and then wallpaper paste them directly to a wall. Then, if they're still too "bright" sort of texturize them with a light top coat of some acrylic texture medium.

I can see why you bought them, love the photo's. If they were mine.. I would paint over the frames & decoupage vintage recipes on the frames (placing them haphazardly, you don't have to have the whole recipe showing) afterwards applying a stain varnish over the frames and photos.

I think they may take on a new look by painting around the pictures in a darker color like black or navy blue. If you don't want to take the risk in case you don't like the results you could get a large sheet of black or navy paper and cut it to the size of one of the smaller pictures. Then measure the size of the actual picture and cut out the same size hole in the middle of the paper and blue tac it to the picture. Stand back and see what it looks like before deciding if you would like it painted. (sort of like a test run). I think the pictures are lovely but the surrounding pattern is dated and spoils the look. If you do decide to paint the surrounds just put a strip of around the 4 edges of the actual picture so the paint won't bleed onto the picture. Wait until the paint is completely dry before removing the tape. you will find the frame painted a darker color will make the actual pictures stand out more.
