I used old rusty tractor or cut out wheels for planters. I've had many say they like the idea of recycling. I have seen other great ideas on this website. Patti~ from Prineville Oregon.

Patti - in looking at these rims AGAIN - just where do you get something that size and what kind of equipment uses a rim w/a tire that big?? This had to come off an enormous piece of construction equipment I'd think????
The ones I have are old tractor wheels that were sitting around the back forty of a ranch. I also think you could use old Semi wheels with the centers cut out of them. They are not that easy to find but they are out there! We also have a steel yard in the area where people throw all kinds of things away, another place to look if you have one in your area. Patti - an another observation here . . . .(It takes me awhile sometimes lol) but I bet those things weigh a ton too - before soil & plants. Probably would be a 2 man job to load those babys. Now, my husband is a pretty indulgent guy when it comes to my whimseys & quirkiness but I think this

They are not lined with anything, these are big enough you could put some nice grasses or larger taller plants in them. I have a couple more I am working on....Also a good way to have plants flowers without dogs or other animals getting into them...
