Does anyone have a contact that can help me with my oak tree that has been skinned and the sap is drawing flying

squirrels at night who are eatting the bark back away from the area to make it bleed again. I am using tree wound spray to cover up the area but they eat right thru it! I even put pepper on it to stop them and they ate that too!

That's a darn shame Audry, I'd do a contractor search here on HomeTalk to find someone in your area that's in the exterminating business. Click the search icon (magnifying glass) at the top of the page and when the "drop-down" choices appear, choose the exterminating line and click the search word and you should see all the exterminators near you. Best of luck to you! JL

Audrey, I would try wrapping the damaged area with a narrow-gauge wire screen tied in place above and below the wound. This will allow air to get to the wound, helping it heal, and should keep the squirrels out.

Try your local nursery too for a recommendation. I think the air would be better and the wire instead of the tree wound spray. Here is a link to a list of arborists near Pea Ridge,

you may want to ask them if they are certified arborists or members of the ISA which stands for the International Society of Arboriculture. This means they have a level of knowledge and training to diagnose and solve problems like yours. Best of luck. ...»

If the wire or arborist can't stop them, you might try Wildlife Damage Control, http://www.nwawildlifedamagecontrol.com/, they are in North West Arkansas , 479-381-2222. Also, there is a Critter-B-Gone, in Rogers AR, 479-925-4042. Those are selected from exterminator internet listings around your area, and I can't vouch for their work. Good luck.

Thanks everyone, especially James and Douglas. We found a gauze wrap at Lowes especially made for wrapping trees. It keeps all the critters out! Ants, bees, and the squirrels too! We are grateful for the help!

James, Critter-B-Gone is a great company in Rogers. They helped us when we had a squirrel in the atic of our house! Guess the squirrels love us!!

You're very welcome, Audrey. I'm glad the squirrels have been thwarted and your oak tree is on its way to healing.

    LOL!

I don't want them to like us too much! They can do so much damage just being themselves!!

You can live in Ar and NOT be kin to Clinton! LOL! I take it you're a football fan!! My hub Ed is a major fb fan. fb as in football!!! We tend to follow the teams in the areas we live. Ed is usually a Missouri Tiger fan..... I am not much into football. I get too caught up on the winning and loosing factor. I feel that I am better off keeping a divided attention when a game is on.

Dod your G-daddy live in Arkansas all his life or was he just here a short time. We have ...»

lived here for 6 years now and love the area. We came from KC, MO down here after living in Oklahoma for a few years. WE were full time RVers for 5 years before that!

Now, it seems that we are living in our MH more than our home, but we live knowing that our little house in the country is there if and when we need it!
