Took over a year to grow and bloom

I planted the bulb end of 2010 and nothing came up in2011 from bulbs I bought at Christmas Tree Store on sale then the box sat around my house for too many months but low and behold look what popped up last week !

Proves that plants have a tremendous will to live. But I've never seen a flower like that from a bulb.

well, it was not a seed but it came in a bag with a root or tube so maybe it was not a bulb. as you may guess gardening is not my department. Real gardeners don't get stuff on sale at Christmas Tree Store the picture on the box was sure pretty :)
