My Grandmother told my Grandfather for years, if he left his small boat in the yard, she'd plant flowers in it! I understand completely! -
Many years ago a customer was being moved by her company didn't want to move their small skiff. I told her to make a planter out of it--it got moved as part of her household goods. Don't know if she left it as a planter or turned it back into a boat, but at least she didn't have to pay extra to take it with her. -
I have seen a lot of different things used as planters, but this is my first kayak. Cute. -

Have a couple of friends that have made planters out of their old row boats. Totally nautical. -
How in the world did he cut out the cockpit? Kayaks are made of tough stuff. -
I used a jig saw to cut it out. Worked really well, then drilled many, many holes in the bottom for drainage. -
How about blue glass chips under it and it would really look like water - sparkles and all. -

Another "garden" idea for a boat.. when you have a large summer party, 4th of July, etc.. and you need a great place for beverages.. just fill that boat.. or a section.. with ice. .and there you have storage for all .. section the boat for kids beverages/ and then adult beverages a the other end. .I used this for a daughters "informal" wedding reception.. it went with her theme .. and was creative. was a hit
