Removing glass from metal plant stand

My wife picked up this plant stand at a garage sale and we are trying to remove the glass to re-do the rusted metal stand part, but cannot get the glass out- tried the WD40 route, tried taking a hack saw blade in between to no help. Any ideas?

Well Larry, I'm sure you must have tried the obvious - the glass doesn't just slide out of the slots??? Otherwise, there must be screws or something on the outside of the frame that holds the slots for the glass - I think you'll probably need to disassemble the entire thing - just keep track of what goes where!!

Hey Susan, no unfortunately it does not slide and no screws. It's been left outside for a lot of years, and I am assuming rust has also built up between the metal slides and the glass, locking it in.

Larry have you tried some RUST remover on the slots ???? Short of breaking the glass and replacing with new~~~~~you could also tape/paper the glass...repaint the frame and frost the glass when done (since the topside of the shelf supports would still be rusted and visable)

Larry try a heat gun along with the WD, sometimes the heat will let the WD penetrate better and loosen the rust. You just have be careful what ever you do or you'll break the glass. Good luck.
