Painted canvas floorcloths

For those of you who are tired of spot cleaning (or worse- dry cleaning) an oriental rug under the dining table, why not go with a floorcloth? Heavy canvas is painted and sealed with multiple clear coats to produce a tough, easy to clean and customizable floor covering which will least for decades! More info at http://www.canvasworksfloorcloths.com.

Would you go for something like this in your home?

I really got a kick out of this for it brought memories back from design classes when I actually made a canvas rug (1987). I just remembered it the other day so to see this posted is like dejavu and, just maybe, I'll make another!

Yes, I would go for this in my home! Original and unique...a winning combination.

We've made several of these using fabrics. How about matching fabrics on the floorcloth with leftover scraps from a quilt? My daughter made a more geometical one using masking tape and spray paints.

Very interesting. What does the surface feel like underfoot?

It feels like a cross between leather and vinyl flooring.

This is exactly what I need--something waterproof to protect my laminate from wet and provide some traction for my little dogs. How difficult was it to make. I'm not very agile anymore.

This is such a great idea. Durable, and easy to clean ... and beautiful.

Do you have to tape it down? what about sweeping it off....do the corners start to curl?

Larger floorcloths used under tables or other furniture do not need to be secured to the floor. I use a very heavy canvas. A finished 8' x 8' floorcloth from Canvasworks will weigh about 40 lbs.! It lies nice and flat with no warping edges or turned up corners.
