I have one of those sitting in my garage, of course it is not the finished project. It's just one of many out there! I love the way yours turned out, so maybe I'll get out the paint and sandpaper....lots of work but so worth it! Beautiful in the end!
Great job Cassie! These are all the rage right now. BTW Sandi, I saw on TV the other day these sell for near or over $1,000 in unrestored (cleaned up) condition! So you might want to get yours out of the garage and re-purpose it! It would be adorable sitting along a long wall or in a corner in a den with bright colored large baskets sitting on it filled with toys! If you do not have kids in the house, fill it with plants in different size pots!
Thanks! Mine is not new, rather it's very old. The wheels are original. I only replaced the top planks. Not sure where one would find such casters....I believe they are cast iron.
This is the first one I have seen and am total blown away...the wheels are so cool....yes they do seem to be cast iron. do you know anything about this things history?...like what type of factory or where it is from?
I think part of the coolness of historical pieces is the back story...when where and what it did in its original life.
We recently walked into a boutique type furniture store in Tampa because they had this cart on display, an old warehouse cart. We loved it and it was on sale for $1100.
KMS, sorry I do not know the history. There was a brand stamped in ink on the side board, but faded too much to read. No other markings. I purchased it from a junk dealer who happens to vend at our annual sale...will have to ask him. I did notice that my cart is constructed a bit differently, with four wheels...one at each corner vs. 2 wheels centered at each end.

stain looks on cast iron! After staining, I applied several coats of wax and will continue to wax about once per year.
The first $1000 offer I have, it's sold! Mine is very old with the iron wheels. i'll take a picture this weekend and show you just how much work needs to be done. It will be beautiful if it's ever finished.
