I adore the beautiful porch area I have on the front of my home, although my backyard is nice just a patio.

We don't want to cover it or enclose it. What do you suggest for a concrete patio in Missouri. We reach triple digets. I have decorated with umbrella's and cushions but it is quite an investment for the sun ruins it in the first 3 month season. I have a 4 top metal table and a 2 top metal table. Thank you Torri

I like the shade sail idea. That's what I was going to do until I bit the bullet and had a pergola built.

With tripple digit heat, you have no choice but to add a screen porch if you plan to enjoy the outdoors. If you do not want to attach it to the house, a free standing screen room with a beautiful short walkway would work perfectly. You could use your current patio as your grilling station, refreshment center with the sitting/dining area in the screen room close by! It could be made beautiful! People are coming up with all kinds of ways to use their outdoor space which is not your ...»
typical deck/patio, etc. This does not have to be overly expensive and can be put up in segments! Do a little this year, then do some more next year. Laid stone (natural or manmade) can make a great floor...add a few each year! Keep in mind that latticecan be use for screening for privacy and sun! In the wintertime, move the grill and outdoor furniture into the screen room for storage!

I'm with the rest when they suggest "shade/solar sail". Koolaroo advertizes theirs drops the temperature, as the shade absorbs "X" number of degrees. I've used their shades and found this to be accurate.
