How do you get your own custom floor plan made into a usable blueprint

I've drawn up my dream home floor plan that we'd like to build in about 5 years, but I don't know where to start on having it engineered and designed.

To some extent this depends on what your state or local jurisdiction requires - some may require an architect with an additional engineer stamp be added while others may simply allow you to go to any competent draft person & have them work it up in a program like autocad.
