The Flying Bathtub

Faced with a third-floor remodel with limited access, tight turns, and high-end finishes throughout, our project manager got creative. The home's location and landscaping also prevented the use of a traditional demo chute.

Enter "The Pine Street Zip Line!" This zip line allowed us to haul debris and new materials to and from the third story in the most efficient, least disruptive, and clean manner.

(The project manager behind the zip line is a seasoned climber and had the knowledge and skill-set to implement this safely, quickly, and smoothly.)

  • Never saw a flying bathtub before? You have now!

Amazes me that the carpenters involved never felt tempted to take a ride themselves. Quite clever.

Imagine you tried to do this yourself. Looks impossible and then it works. It had to make you smile.

a big tree for the lower anchor?....what did you use inside?

Yes, the lower anchor was a big tree (protected by a wrap of discarded carpet). Inside the home, the zip line was anchored to lumber attached to the third-floor rafters.
