Curbside Find

I found this table sitting on the side of the road. I brought it home and decided to take the bottom shelf off and make two tables out of it. This is the first table. I gave it a good all over sanding with steel wool. After I washed it off, I gave it one coat of spray paint primer. When that was dry, I gave it two coats of a lilac colored spray paint. When that was dry, I added highlights to the legs and inserts with a metallic silver paint. I used a large paisley stencil to paint the design on top of the table. Next, I painted the border around the top and lightly distressed it. Lastly, I finished the whole table off with a couple of coats of wipe on polyurethane.

Love it....U took an old piece of furniture and turned it into something beautiful. That's why I love this site, although I'm primarely a gardener, I always wanted to refurbish old items and that's why I love this site, because you just taught me how! Great, Great Job!

I Love this! I'm always thrilled when I find a "castoff" on the side of the road...LOL; Hubby....Not so much...You did an excellent job on this table and certainly I think made teh right choice in taking off the bottom shelf, it changes the entire flavor of the piece...What kind of paint is this? The silver anything special...Like Martha Stewart collection or what have you? LOVE the color choices...I'm so all about the Blues...I love them.

Your going to love Hometalk Taunnie....It's become addicted.....Thru facebook, I hit on a photo which led me to their face book page and when I noticed they had a web site, I immediately was drawn in by all the gardening, refurbishing tips and photo's....and so much more and I've been on here everyday ever since. In such a short time, only 4 months or so, I have a learned a great deal! And the best part is, mostly everything is inxpensive, very easy to learn and the people are EXTREMELY helpful, and so, so Kind!!! Welcome!

It is truly lovely, but as I like old stuff, I would probably have kept it as is and just cleaned it up or sanded down and kept natural. This truly is a creative site, I guess I will not get much work done today, if I keep looking around here.

Hi Polly. If you click on my posts and scroll down you will see it under the "Curbside Transformation Part 2". It is a green table with an oversized greek key design.
