String Art State Style

Who loves cheap, easy and unique wall art? Everybody does, right? Well then I have a great project for you today – string art.
I needed a couple of non-photo pieces for my new gallery wall (that’s coming your way really soon!) and I saw someone’s string art shaped like a state. Since the hubs and I are for different states (NC and AL) I thought I would do one to represent each of us.
This is an easy project for an afternoon.

Supplies

* Board (I used a 1×12 at Lowes and had them cut it for me)

* Paint or stain for your board
* Nails (I used about a box and a half on each piece)
* String

* Pencil

* Ruler

* Hammer

* Needle-nose pliers (I will show you why in a minute!)
First decide what size you want your finished project to be. I had mine cut to 12″ x 18″. Then I stained the wood with stain I had on hand. Then I let it sit for a few days weeks until I decided to finish it up.

The most time consuming part of the project for me was finding a graphic of the state online and then sizing it appropriately for the board size I had chosen. Once I had that done, it was smooth sailing from there.
