I think I was one of the last people on earth to try Annie Sloan Chalk Paint. I used it on a free {if somewhat scratched-up and damaged} table, and I'm so glad I finally did! Read about it here: http://sixteenfourteen.weebly.com/2/post/201...
No, I am the last person. I paint and distress furniture all the time and so far have not tried it. Something about that hefty price tag and yes, I know it goes a long way but then you have to have the wax and and do you want dark or clear and at $30something a can, it's not like you can get both after also purchasing the paint. Then the other day I read where someone wrote that you have to use vinegar or a vinegar brush (?) so the wax won't have a greasy feel to it, it just seems all

sooo complicated and expensive. I went to your blog and I will be interested in reading the "Second Coat" chapter about your table.
Donna, I totally hear you. I will say that the wax isn't greasy at all once it dries...and both the paint and the wax dry super fast. The one concern I have, now that I finished the table, is about the wear. How will the finish hold up to my family's abuse? ;-)
That said...Kim, you are SO right, I'm totally hooked!
Fantastic redo on table! Since I am not a person who paints furniture, I can tell you that I am the one person left on earth who has not used Annie Sloan Chalk Paint! I love painted furniture, but just have not had anything that needed painting.
I just read your blog about the second coat and the wax. Do you feel like the table is going to be durable? Also, would you give up using regular paint vs using only ASCP?
Hi Donna! I haven't used the table yet, so I'm not sure about wear. I'll let you know, because I'm going to start using it this week. But I would definitely give up using regular paint, at least for furniture, mirrors, etc. It just looks so much better, and is so much easier to use. A quart goes a LONG way, too!
