Repurposed Old Lamp

One of my friends were moving and was throwing out a bunch of stuff. She asked me if I may be interested in looking through it and to take what I wanted. So of course, I'm going to take a look!! Anything FREE is always my favorite kind of finds!! Out of quite a few items that I took, I found this old lamp! It didn't work due to a destroyed light socket. Here is a picture of it before I got at it!
After staring at it for a bit, trying to figure out what I was going to do to make this over and it came to me. I have 2 candle pillars that I bought from a "Mary & Martha Home" party and wished I had another for a grouping of 3 pillars.
Below, you will see what I did..
Before picture of the old brass lamp.
I used the 2 pillars I currently had as my inspiration. I took the wire cutters and snipped the cord and pulled it completely out of the lamp along with the socket where you would screw in the light bulb. Next, I gave it a good cleaning- making sure all the years of dirt & grime were off. Now it was ready for it's make over!
I added some crackle to the areas that would naturally show some wear. Then I painted it my color of choice (ASCP in Duck Egg) and allowed that to dry. I was delighted when I could see the areas I added the crackle- it allowed some of that gold finish that was originally there, to peek through! Finally, I applied a protective finish to the painted areas and I just left the top be as it was- I was loving the patina look that was already there! Added my candle and viola- another awesome repurpose project!!
Here it is now! :)
Hope y'all like it too!
