My 7-year-old granite countertops are damaged by agressive cleaning product (from my housekeeper), is it possible to sand it and to protect it? Thank you

  • @Karine yes you can do this but it is difficult to get the polish shine back up without using special tools. A auto body polisher with polishing compound is used with lots of water. Once the shine is back you should apply a granite sealer that can be purchased at most tile stores. I would however suggest that you hire a pro kitchen counter guy to do the polish work for you. Its difficult and dirty to do properly. But the top can be restored to its original beauty,
  • I would hire a professional as Woodbridge points out there are special tools and applications to working with granite. It may be a bit expensive but so it is buying tools, your time, and the stress of doing this. Then after that make sure you only use a clean hot rag to wipe down granite-no cleaning sprays needed because granite does not harbor bacteria or germs like wood. And if you feel like that is not enough then just buy a cleaner for granite tops. good luck
