How to diy cold frame?

I have two large (dimensions unknown) pieces of plate glass. They used to be storm windows. I would like to make into cold frames without the bottom to sit on my garden over winter. How do I start these windows that have no frame?

You do need to rig something to prop open the glass for air circulation and hardening off of your plants. Doesn't have to be fancy to be effective.

  Thanks Catherine! I was ging to get a router and make a mess. This would be so much better and I can use the hay to mulch in the spring. :-) happy me. Susan

  @Susan G Glad to help. However, you want STRAW, not hay. Preferably builder's straw which has few weed seeds. Hay has far more weed seeds.

Hello Susan, You could take a crate and remove the bottom. Lay your window on top. However, Catherine is right. Circulation is important. Hope this helps.
