Antique Brass Chandelier Updated Shabby Chic Style

I recently remodeled my bedroom and wanted a vintage chandelier but I wanted a blue one to match my new decor. So here's what I did.

I bought this antique brass chandelier with lots of details that I knew would look lacy and delicate when I got through painting (yes painting) it with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint. First I applied black paint and wiped off the excess. Once dry I applied several layers, with a dry brush, of Louis Blue chalk paint.

Here is a view if the bottom as I continued to add about five layers of paint. Dry brushing it on allows the darker details to stand out. Once it was dry I painted the crown of another chandelier to match, as this one did not come with one, and some pretty frosted globes I got for a $1 a piece. I also painted a ceiling medallion I had bought previously at Lowe's.

So, there you have it. One shabbilicous chandelier and a one of a kind piece. I hope you like it and are inspired to give your bedroom a new look. Have a great day. Peggy
