How to clean a Dash & Albert cotton rug

Question

We purchased a 9' x 12' Dash and Albert indoor all-cotton rug approximately.  It is in desperate need of cleaning.  Has anyone had experience with having such a rug cleaned?  If so, how were the results?  I love the rug, but have spot- cleaned and now it needs an overall cleaning.  It is in our living room of a house by the beach and takes a lot of abuse.  Help!

Hi Denise, hope this helps you out. Drag your rug outside. I took mine out to my back deck.
Hose it down good. It needs to be very wet.
In sections, spray Chlorox Clean-Up and let it sit for just a minute.
Scrub with a brush until it suds up.
Hose it down again several times until no more soap comes up.

This rug is made from polypropylene and according to Dash and Albert's website, these rugs can be hosed, scrubbed and bleached. Apparently, they are not meant for machine washing or drying, though
