A Drawer transformed into an over the Toilet Cabinet

So I had all these drawers lying around from an old waterbed frame compliments from my neighbor who had purchase a new bed and wanted to know if I would like to use the wood and drawers for any of my projects...and me the JUNK Queen never passes up on an opportunity for free wood LOL!

So I thought to myself, SELF... what can I make out of these drawers?

Then I got to thinking that I was needing a new cabinet to go over the toilet in the bathroom to hold the toilet paper and other bathroom accessories.

So from one of the drawers this is what I made...

You Can see the whole tutorial here...

Is it hard to find shutters that fit?

Janice Davis I used to go to a lot of garage sales and for some reason people around this area have these shutters as window treatments in just about every home around here... Most of the homes are 70+ years old so it must have been the style they used back then instead of curtains... Now that everyone is updating their homes you can find them everywhere in real sale stores for $1 or $2 each... I have a ton of them from when ...»
we Remodeled our own home they were on every window in this house and my house has a lot of windows LOL!... I haven't been able to find them in stores I guess they just don't make them anymore, Your best bet would be to just Check out resale stores or Garage Sales as I did... And when you find shutters that are almost to size just frame the Drawer to make the shutter fit..:) Hope this helps Cheers!♥

Tania- I was given a bunch of drawers from a friend. I took one and made a jewelry holder for my outdoorsy daughter. I got a mirror cut to the inside, painted the sides on the inside, put in a couple of wood trees, a canoe and set of oars on the bottom so they would be reflected. On the top I placed a wood scene with some trees and deer. I then screwed in a couple of cup holders to hang her necklaces on. She loves it and still uses it.

Even one day we were driving along and we were looking for a place to rent and there sat all these shutters to the road, 12 of them but they were a blue plastic short, who cares.....paint or whatever and light.....we argued and went around the corner twice......finally my honey let me pick them up....haha.....he just does not see it the way I do......but I even cried that I wanted them so bad...now that is bad huh......but I got them......so I will b all set.....so excited....here is pic of bed and would not b surprised if it was the same one, hope u enjoyed my story!!!!

Last summer I just threw out a twin headboard exactly like the third pic, wow.......was going to make a bench and decided to put it to the curb instead, oh no that was wrong......haha. Sharon B LOL! I don't mean to get you into trouble with Hubby Hehe But Oh Well he'll get over it when he see what beauty come of your doing ..;)

Actually I usually use head boards for these projects I have so many of them in different shapes and sizes... When people in small towns know that you do this kind of stuff with STUFF! it just ...»

kinda makes it to your Doorstep unexpectedly LOL! the first one was the the only bench that I didn't make out of a headboard.. It used to be an old toy chest that was in my girls room and they had jumped on it way too much and it started to fall apart ....

The bottom was broken out of it and the lid SNAPPED in 2... YES for GIRLS they sure did play rough LOL!...

So I took the whole thing apart and just salvaged the sides and back... The seat was part of some old wood floor that we had salvaged and the bottom I just braced and cut some 1x4's to fit ...and the drawer underneath is just a Drawer out of the million others I have that fit just perfect under there.....♥

Sandra I do everything myself... He helps me only if I need his help Cutting one of the larger boards because I need him to hold one end while I push it through the Table Saw... One day I plan on getting a larger saw and a table set up then it will be easier to do the bigger projects... I have a scroll saw too and love to experiment with it...That was the first saw that I ever owned now I have them All..:)

I use shutters to make jewelry holders. If you turn them upside down, you can hook earrings over the edge of the shutter. Add cups hooks for necklaces and bracelets.
