Our Kitchen Remodel

We had to manage a budget remodel after a burst pipe in our kitchen. We painted our cabinets white, removed some in favor of a hutch, added a butcher block countertop and vintage lighting, and gave it an entirely new look. More photos and information at http://www.jenniferrizzo.com

Stunning, just stunning! Just wait until my husband finds out I'm repainting all our cupboards. Mine will be more of an antique white because I don't want to repaint my walls yet. But the wood is getting a makeover. Thank you for sharing!

Beautiful. I had planned to do that when I bought my place and then thought the orginal wood was cozy. But I'm now having major second thoughts. Your results are great!

About 6 years ago I finally painted our kitchen cabinets after almost a year of thinking about doing it...after the first coat on the cabinets frames,I thought,"what took me so long?"Never will have plain old wood again in my kitchen!!!!

I did the same thing several years ago and still love it! Also painted over the paneling in the den! It made all the difference in the world!

I love that you re-positioned the cabinets and made things line up a little more....that would have drove me crazy too! Good idea on not having knobs....not as noticeable. Love the whole look!

I bought a house recently that I wanted to do the same thing to the cabinets. These came out just beautiful. Can you provide steps or tips to making them look so good?

Thank you! I would recommend sanding, filling any deep grain with wood putty and then priming res,ly well. End it with a coat of polycrylic to keep them from chipping.

I love your makeover! I recently finished my kitchen makeover too! I posted photos on my blog and will continue as the space gets back filled with the things I love.

I would love to know whhow you did your hutch, what colors were used, etc. I'm in the process of redoing my own. thanks

I painted a base of grey and then went over it with a light aqua blue. I sanded it and then distressed it and went over it with a walnut stain.

thank you so much for your reply!

do you recall the name of the aqua?

I plan to use ascp as I already have the colors. but the duck egg blue is pretty bright. maybe I'll try toning it down with old white.... I've not ventured into mixing the paint yet. I think my biggest concern is being certain I mix enough to finish the piece without having a to on left over. .
