I am wanting to use this chair for my computer desk at home. Any suggestions for a newer look? The bottom of seat and back are vinyl.

Are there any signs of being able to remove the upholstered part? It's a great looking chair. It would great in a pretty fabric.

it may be a possibility that the hard vinyl will pull apart. thanks

Fabric paint and then seal it with something. There must be tutorials on here or just google it for using paint on furniture. Some people use chalk paint. As this chair will get a lot of wear I would look into how well a painted fabric chair will stand up to a lot of use before going ahead though. You would of course need to mask off and protect the vinyl part from paint and may need a lot of coats to get the look you want or else the fabric colour may still show through. Seems to me the easiest option if you cannot pull the chair apart to re-upholster. Either that or make some sort of slip cover for it but that would be a bit tricky if the arms are not removable they will get in the way.

@Judy, if it's a chair you use daily, I wouldn't recommend painting it. I painted two chintz chairs a couple years ago and they looked great, but the fabric type was very smooth. Even though they are sat in, maybe a couple times a week, the paint soon started to come loose where the fabric naturally wrinkles and stretched when sat in. Can you take photos of the bottom and back of the chair and a close up of the fabric please? If you have a close up or "flower" setting on you camera, that's the best way to get a good close up of the fabric.

I spray painted an old Cosco step stool/chair. I figured it was old so I painted it seat, back and all. The seat and back are hard vinyl and I painted them also. It turned out great. I used Rustoleum spray paint. It may take more than one coat. I would mask off the seat and back, spray them a contrasting color.

That model was the most comfortable desk chair I ever owned. Too bad I got rid of it.
